Looking for Myself
The thought that I’m bad
Has got me thinking for days
But I’m sure it’s not that,
and that I’m good as I say.
As if my head could be persuaded,
but my heart wouldn’t change.
Though I can be brave
And hope I’ll not fail.
Sometimes my actions
Are not what I’ve been taught,
And as I get divided in fractions,
I no longer see who I’m not.
And if this finally ends,
And I get to know who I am
I’ll see myself as a friend,
Since I now understand.
I love the song you chose, what I do not understand it's how relates to your poem. Maybe you can make this clear to me, if it's not a bother. Btw, nice poem.
ReplyDeleteThe song reminds me a lot of a problem I went through against myself. The song shows how she knows she can be better, but she chooses to be selfish and hurt someone. That is quite the same struggle I went through because I knew my actions were not the best and definitely not what I was taught but I was not smart enough to fix it. It was quite a complicated situation and I hope I was able to clear something out, although I am sure you still have a lot of doubts about it. I'm glad you showed interest.
ReplyDeleteNice poem and the lyrics of the song are really good!
ReplyDeleteHello Crystal! This is a really great poem first of all. I especially like the third verse. Also I really enjoyed the song you choose for it, without knowing the specific situation that it refers to I can see why and how it can relate to a personal situation...
ReplyDelete~~~Paula
I have nothing to give, it was a nice poem
ReplyDeleteIn the beginning you express a struggle with being pessimistic. “Sometimes my actions/are not what I’ve been taught.” This line expresses the thought that you have been either disrespectful or chose to be lazy at a point in your life; because of this you feel that you lose yourself, you lose your identity.
ReplyDeleteGood poem, btw.
